TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — A call to Home Depot from a customer who said her heater wasn't working and the cold was making her skin start to hurt prompted a call to the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office for a welfare check.
Deputies went to the home and spoke with her, then contacted the home improvement store's management. Space heaters and other supplies were donated from the store for the home.
When all the supplies were gathered, deputies went back to the home to install the heaters and made minor, but needed repairs to make sure the woman was safe and warm.
"Thank you to the staff at Home Depot for letting us know about the situation and for assisting our citizen in need. This is yet another example of why our West Texas community spirit is such an amazing thing to witness. Take care of each other and be safe," a release from the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office said.
