NWS: Tornado confirmed in Coke County over the Hwy 208/RR 2662 Friday

TEXAS, USA — UPDATE (6:15 p.m.): A tornado warning is in effect for the Wall area until 7 p.m. Friday.

UPDATE (5:50 p.m. Friday): A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. Friday for northeastern Schleicher County, eastern Tom Green County, southwestern Runnels County and western Concho County.

At 5:43 p.m., radar located a severe thunderstorm over Harriet, or near Veribest, moving southeast at 20 mph. Sixty mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail are possible. 

The National Weather Service in San Angelo says hail damage to vehicles is expected and expect wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

The severe thunderstorm will be near Miles and Veribest around 5:50 p.m., Mereta around 5:55 p.m., Vancourt and Eola around 6:10 p.m.

Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Vick, the intersection of US 83 and Ranch Road 765, Harriet and the intersection of Ranch Road 380 and Ranch Road 381.

If you spot a tornado, immediately go into a basement or small central room in a sturdy structure or move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

ORIGINAL STORY: The National Weather Service in San Angelo says at 4:55 p.m. Friday, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over the intersection of Hwy 208 and Ranch Road 2662, or near Robert Lee, moving east at 10 mph.

The tornado was confirmed by storm spotters on the ground in Coke County. Significant damage has been reported with the tornado.

A tornado warning is in effect until 5:30 p.m. for southeastern Coke County, northern Tom Green County and west central Runnels County. 

At 5:09 p.m., a dangerous tornado was spotted over Robert Lee. TAKE COVER NOW.
