Unidentified passenger dies in head-on collision on US 277 Thursday evening

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — An unidentified passenger died in a two-vehicle crash eight miles north of San Angelo on US Hwy 277 Thursday evening.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2018 Toyota RAV 4, driven by Thao N Le, 45, of Lincoln, Neb., was traveling northbound on US 277, attempting to pass an 18-wheeler.

A 2013 Ford Escape, driven by Bishnu Kumar Paudel, 49, was traveling southbound.

The report said Le did not have sufficient distance to pass the semi and struck Paudel's vehicle head-on.

Both Lee and Paudel were transported to Shannon Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.

Paudel's passenger, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office assisted DPS in the crash investigation.
