United States is the least dry in nearly 20 years

Since the US Drought Monitor began keeping record in 2000, nearly all of the lower 48 is drought-free with many areas seeing a surplus of rainfall for the year

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Those 'Pray for Rain' signs that line many of the lawns in West Texas might just be working.

The Continental Untied States (CONUS) is the least dry as of May 3, in 19-years. Scientists started recording drought conditions in 2000 as a way to better recognize drought before it intensifies can reduce impacts and save money.

Here are a few notable takeaways:

-California is green! 

-Driest areas are just southwest of the four corners in central and northwestern New Mexico
