UPDATE: Crash leaves San Angelo motorcyclist dead

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (11:30 a.m. March 4): The San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Section is investigating a motorcycle fatality crash that happened Wednesday night at the intersection of West Avenue L and South Bryant Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive motorcyclist receiving CPR from a bystander. Officers tried to render aid by applying a CAT tourniquet and continuation of CPR, but the man died at the scene.

The preliminary field investigation showed the man who died was traveling northbound in the 1600 block of South Bryant Boulevard on a 2009 Yamaha YZF motorcycle at a high rate of speed, when he collided with a 2016 Dodge Charger, turning eastbound at the intersection at West Avenue L from South Bryant.

The man who died in the crash was identified as Casey Wood, 33, of San Angelo. The driver of the Charger was not injured.

This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available for release at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: San Angelo Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Avenue L and South Bryant Boulevard for reports of a major crash.

The crash happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

According to SAPD Lt. Craig Thomason, the initial investigation found one man dead.

SAPD Criminal Investigations Division, Traffic Division and patrol are processing the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information was available for release.
