SAN ANGELO, Texas — After an 8 a.m. pep rally, Hawks fans gathered along Loop 570 for a send-off. The The people of Wall raised a cheer as the 13-1 Hawks football team headed to Abilene to face the 12-2 Gunter Tigers. "“It’s absolutely amazing. This team has been absolutely incredible. Their friendship, their bond. They’ve worked for this since they were in elementary," Krystle Braden said.
Braden is the parent of one of the players, Hudson Braden, who plays on the offensive line.
"Our quarterback actually hasn’t been sacked all year, so it’s been amazing. They’re a fun group to watch and we’re just really excited for today."
Another team members parent said a win against the Tigers, placing the team in the state championship, would mean everything to the town.
"A win today is just unbelievable. This would be very awesome to go back to Jerry’s World again," Will Wiggins, parent of Garren Wiggins said.
"Words just can’t express how proud we’d be of these kids if they could do that.”
