West Texas farm land remains dry as Coastal Bend farmers recover from Beryl

West Texas farmers have experienced drought conditions for the past three years. Meanwhile Wharton County farmers are assessing damages but expect record cotton.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Wharton County Extension Agent Corrie Bowen said farmers in his area expect record-breaking cotton production. However, Hurricane Beryl dealt a significant blow to the corn crop.

Meanwhile, farmers in West Texas are in a prolonged drought. Doug Wilde, a cotton grower, said he can only irrigate 15 of his 250 acres of cotton.
