WINTERS, Texas — The City of Winters will receive more than $3.75 million in financial assistance from the Texas Water Development Board's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
Consisting of $1,065,000 in financing and $2,688,441 in principal forgiveness, the City will use the assistance for the planning, design and construction of a water system improvement project.
In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City of Winters could save approximately $337,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.
With the assistance approved Tuesday, the City will replace approximately 8,500 linear feet of cast-iron distribution lines with PVC water lines in its drinking water distribution system as well as replace inoperable valves and fire hydrants and prepare an asset management plan.
The TWDB is the state agency responsible for collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning and preparing the state water and flood plans. It administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
