CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas — A Santa Anna woman was killed Wednesday morning after the car she was driving struck a deer, then a tree in Callahan County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at around 5:36 a.m. Wednesday on US Hwy 283, approximately 13.1 miles south of Baird. Brandi Deann Ross, 37, of Santa Anna, was driving a sedan south on US 283 when she hit a deer in the road. The crash caused the car to veer off the road and into a tree.
Ross and her seven-year-old passenger were both taken to Hendrick Medical Center, where Ross was pronounced dead at 12:42 p.m.
The child had minor injuries, DPS said.
