Medical supply drive to help Ukraine set for Wednesday

A native Ukrainian who is now a West Texas resident is asking for the community’s help for Wednesday's medical supply drive.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A humanitarian drive is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, to collect medical supplies to be delivered to Ukraine.

Anastasiia Delebis is from Lviv, Ukraine, but moved to San Angelo a couple of years ago with her husband. Delebis will be delivering the medical supplies collected from the humanitarian drive to the nonprofit organization, Ukrainian San Antonio, so the supplies can make their way to Ukraine.

“I want everybody to look closer and understand that this was just unexpected and it’s happened within the hours, people just living regular lives going to school, coming home from work and they just get attacked from the sky without anybody's control,” Delebis said.

Delebis has family and friends in Ukraine. She said everyone is coming together and helping each other with what they can.

“It’s scary you know everybody is really scared, everybody don't know what’s going to be tomorrow and people just trying their best to help each other,” Delebis said.

Delebis said specifically first aid supplies are needed.

“They need anything from band-aids stop bleeding, burning aid, also stuff like IVs anything - medical supplies so it can help save lives,” Delebis said.

With the international crisis going on, Delebis has one message for the community.

“I just want to ask people to pray and continue praying for everything to be over,” Delebis said.

The drive will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Keller Williams parking lot, 2117 Knickerbocker Road.
