Stan Lambert hopes 2024 election is not the norm

The District 71 representative defeated Liz Case in the race for House District 71.

ABILENE, Texas — March 5th was a historic day for Stan Lambert and his team after he edged out his opponent Liz Case to remain as District 71's house representative.

The feat was unprecedented in Lambert's eyes, not just because this was the first time in eight years that he had an opponent in this election, but his opponent was endorsed by several prominent figures in the Republican party.

"This is unprecedented and it shows that our leadership has taken a completely new route in terms of how they are wanting to basically control the House of Representatives and they want people bought and paid for. (And) That concerns me quite a bit," Lambert said.

With names like Governor Greg Abbott, Senator Ted Cruz and even former President Donald Trump all endorsing Case, Lambert prevailed by receiving 52% of the votes.

Despite the odds seeming to be stacked against him, Lambert believes this victory means his district trusts everything he has built over the last near decade.

"It just says that they have faith and confidence that we have built relationships in the eight years that I have served in the house,  that we have tried to perform according to the promises that we made back eight years ago," Lambert said.

Those promises will remain intact over Lambert's next term he says, and that his work to fight against school vouchers, to ensure border security and meet the desires of District 71, will continue on throughout his tenure as the leader of his district.
