The tornado watch includes the western sections of the Big Country and is in effect through 8 p.m. CDT. Numerous tornadoes are expected with a few intense tornadoes likely. Widespread large hail and scattered very large hail exceed 4-inches in diameter are expected. The threat for widespread damaging winds exceeding 70 mph is also likely.
While the event primarily focuses on the Texas Panhandle and extends south into the Big Country, scattered tornadoes are possible for other areas, too.
Remember a tornado watch means that conditions are favorable tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in close to the watch area. People in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening conditions and listen for possible warnings.
