SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (5:00 a.m. July 25): As of Wednesday evening, the Texas A&M Forest Service tweeted that the Mada Fire in northern Schleicher County is 100% contained at 1235 acres.
ORIGINAL STORY (12:53 p.m. July 24): Multiple volunteer fire departments responded to a large grass fire on three ranches in northern Schleicher County Tuesday evening.
The smoke from the fire could be seen from US Hwy 277.
Eldorado, Wall, Fort McKavett, and Christoval volunteer fire departments responded to the scene. According to a tweet from the Texas A&M Forest Service, a request was made for assistance from its team.
According to the Eldorado Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief T.J. Rodriguez, as of noon Wednesday, the wildfire was approximately 2,000 acres in size and 80% contained.
