West Texas fires continue to burn: July 16 update

Hot and dry conditions are not helping firefighters fight the flames across multiple West Texas counties

Conditions are not likely to improve in the coming days as no rain chances are in the forecast through the coming weekend.

McCulloch County continues to be a noticeable exception to burn bans that cover most West Texas counties. According to Margarita Moreno from the McCulloch County Judge's office, a burn ban has been mentioned in county commissioners court meetings. However, no burn ban has yet been issued as more paperwork must be completed for one to be enacted.

The judge was scheduled to contact County Attorney Mark Marshall about a possible upcoming burn ban. No burn ban is expected to be issued in the coming days as the next county commissioners court meeting is scheduled for July 27.

Remember, if your county is under a burn ban, it means the burning of any brush piles or household trash is prohibited.
