West Texas girl has her community covered

7th grader collects socks for her classmates without

ABILENE, Texas — Brooklyn bailey, is 12 years old and will be starting the 7th grade this year.

For her 12th birthday she has a special wish to ‘ cover the people of Eastland with socks”

The Eastland I.S.D student came up with the idea after she noticed one of her classmates wasn’t wearing any.

"She said that she had just forgot them, but this was everyday. So i was like hmm she doesn't have socks",said Brooklyn.

With the help of the local non profit, E.C.H.O, she has donation sites at more like 9 locations in town and has 100 pairs already!

Renee Stephens, director E.C.H.O, said the sock donations will be taken the the school district.

'They will put them in the office, so that children can be sent to the office discreetly, and be distributed that way, the child or the family isn't embarrassed." said Stephens.
