Angelo State softball team looks to make a run in the Lone Star Conference Tournament

The Rambelles finished the regular season 37-15 overall.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Angelo State softball team plans to dominate in the Lone Star Conference tournament.

The Rambelles are a completely different squad this year and the biggest lesson they’ve had to learn was how to be teachable.

“I think teachable is a good word because coming from a junior college is hard. We didn’t practice all the time like we do in the LSC. Coming in having a plan and routine is adaptable,” said senior catcher Keilei Garcia.

Being teachable has brought the Rambelles a lot of success this season. When you look at the banners hanging up in Mayer Field, the last time the Rambelles won the LSC tournament was six years ago. This year they are hoping to change that.

“This year was different, we had 11 new players come in and that’s huge for our team. We’re used to having about five or six new players every year, so that was different for me. From a coaching perspective, I’m sure it was different too just trying to get everyone used to the dynamics.

Chemistry, hard work, and a coach who loves the game more than anything continue to fuel the Rambelles. Head coach Travis Scott believes this year reflects his why.

“It’s always been a passion of mine getting out here working at the sport. I love watching them grow as people and what they’ve accomplished this year reinstilled that passion for the game. Last year I questioned if I wanted to do this anymore and this group has brought that passion back again,” said head coach Travis Scott.

Rambelles begin tournament play at 11 a.m. on Friday against Lubbock Christian.
