Texas Tech University receives commitment from Albany running back Adam Hill

Adam Hill, running back for the 2022 state champion Albany Lions, will be playing Division-I football for Texas Tech University after committing on Sunday.

ALBANY, Texas — The Red Raiders must love what they see in West Texas, as Albany Lions running back Adam Hill was offered, and has officially committed, to play for Texas Tech University next fall.

If you are keeping track, this is the second commitment TTU has received from the class of 2024's 2-A Division in West Texas. The first was in the Summer of 2022 when Hawley's Chandlin Myers gave his stamp of approval to play at the next level.

Sunday, Albany High School's Adam Hill announced on X that he was also committing to be a Red Raider for the 2024 college football season and beyond.

"I am very excited and anxious to be down there. I cannot believe that I am a Red Raider," Hill said.

He had an offer he was strongly considering from Louisiana Tech. He was close to committing and after this football season, he planned on scoping out the area and signing his letter of intent. But when the offer came from Texas Tech, he jumped at the opportunity.

"As soon as I heard the offer, I knew that this (committing to Texas Tech) was it. I knew this is what I had to do," Hill said.

Hill and his family leaned on their faith throughout this process, and his parents in particular were thrilled to know that their boy was able to stay closer to home.

"They (his parents) were so happy to see I would only be two-ish hours away rather than six and a half (playing at Louisiana Tech). They were so happy. I had to put the phone on mute so they (the Texas Tech coaches) would not hear them hooting and hollering," Hill said.

Now, Hill has an outline of what his future football career will look like, but he is still focused on winning games for the Albany Lions.

The Lions are coming off their first state championship for the first time since 1961, and all Hill wants is to end his high school career on the highest of highs.

"That would be huge. I mean just leaving on a big high like that, would be awesome," Hill said.

For Hill, he is happy to call Lubbock home in a few months. As for his teammates and coaches, one quote from senior Tyler Chapman stood out above all.

"I think if anyone deserved a football offer, It was Adam Hill,"  Chapman said.

Albany faces off Thursday in round two of the 2-A UIL playoffs against Celeste High School. Updates on that game will be seen on FOX West Texas LIVE at nine.
