ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Cooper High School has a new head softball coach.

Abilene Independent School District Executive Director of Athletics, Jim Garfield, announced Thursday Kaegan Jimenez has been hired to fill the role.

Jimenez spent the last three years as the Whitehouse High School head softball coach. She spent her first year coaching as a Bullard ISD assistant volleyball and softball coach, before serving as Franklin ISD assistant softball and cross country coach.

Jimenez received a bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University in December 2017.

“Abilene ISD is a community and school district that I know and have seen pour into its coaches at all levels, which in return allows us to pour into athletes,” Jimenez said in an AISD news release. “I am excited to be here, and I can’t wait to build relationships with the Cougar family!”

Jimenez is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports pedagogy from Baylor University.

Her role leading the Cooper softball program begins in August.
