SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University track & field's Maricia Spence was named the Lone Star Conference Women's Track & Field Academic Athlete of the Year.
ASU teams received a total of 23 All-Conference honors during the 2024 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships, as well.
Spence, a senior in business administration, carried a 4.0 GPA while collecting four Division II top 15 marks this season and setting a new program best as part of the 4x100-meter relay team. She currently ranks third in D-II in the heptathlon (5,791), sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (13.62) and seventh in the long jump (6.22m | 20-5).
The seventh-ranked Rambelles tallied nine First-Team All-Conference honors with Allison Vaughn totaling a team-high 21 points in the meet.
The Rams finished with five First-Team All-Conference honors including Mark Burdin who tallied 14 points while claiming the title in the decathlon.
