VERIBEST, Texas — In an effort to cap off his senior season the right way, Hunter Hallmark, senior quarterback for the Veribest Falcons continues to make his presence known around West Texas.
Hallmark currently sits in the polls to be voted as Dave Campbell's 1A Quarterback of the Year. Hallmark is no stranger to honors of this magnitude, he was recently named Dave Campbell's 1A Quarterback of the Week during Week 4 of the 2023 season.
Hallmark began playing football in the seventh grade and ever since then, he has made strides to reach the pinnacle of his sport.
"My seventh grade year I played at Reagan County. I started there and it wasn't like my favorite sport because I was always like a basketball kind of guy. Over the years I've grown to really like it and especially this year it turned out to be my favorite sport," Hallmark said.
Hallmark continues to find his way throughout football. This year he led the Veribest Falcons to an 8-2 overall record. As he concludes his senior season, Hallmark is grateful for the mark he gets to leave on the program.
"A big thing about Veribest is that everyone is family no matter who you are. Whether you're good at football or not, everyone is there to support you. It just feels good being backed by those kind of people," Hallmark said.
With the support of the community on his shoulders, Hallmark believes being named quarterback of the year is a testament to his hard work.
"It would show that everything I did was worth it, like all the hard days and all the hard times. I kept pushing and here we are," Hallmark said.
