SUGAR LAND, Texas — One again, former Texans star JJ Watt left the door open to join the team that drafted him.

Over the weekend, SportsRadio 610’s Brandon Scott asked Watt about his desire to return to the playing field in the NFL to join his former teammate and current Texans' head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Watt, who is now a studio analyst for “The NFL Today” on CBS, answered, giving a bit of hope to Texans fans that the future Hall of Famer could be back out at NRG Stadium.

“I told DeMeco last year, I said, ‘Don’t call unless you absolutely need it, but if you do call, I’ll be there.’ He knows not to call unless he absolutely needed it.  This is the last year I’ll tell him that because I’m not going to keep training the way I’ve been training. But he knows that if he ever does truly need it, that I’ll be there for him.”

You can see Watt's full answer to Scott in the X post below.

Watt played 10 of his 12 years in the NFL with the Texans. He played his rookie season alongside Ryans in Houston.

Watt continues giving back in Houston. This weekend was his charity softball game at Constellation Field with money raised going toward the JJ Watt Foundation. which provides funding for after-school athletic programs for kids in 6th through 8th grade.
