SAN ANGELO, Texas — More than 5,200 people gathered for the final event known as the Cinch Chute-Out on Saturday. This is one of the biggest events held within the San Angelo Rodeo.

Each performance of the invitational event contains 10 contestants and the top three advance to the final competition. For those who have never been to a Chute-Out, like rodeo, it's an extreme sport that requires many hours of training and practice with livestock to ensure that they are safe during these competitions.

Several competitions including bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

In bareback riding, Cole Reiner from Buffalo, Wyoming, took the title with a score of 90.5.

Tyler Waguespack earned first place with a time of 3.7 seconds in steer wrestling.

Turning to team roping, Kaleb Driggers of Hoboken, Georgia, and Junior Nogueira of Presidente Prudente, Brazil, ran a time of 4.3 seconds giving them first place as a team.

Taking first place in saddle bronc riding was Brody Cress from Hillsdale, Wyoming, with a score of 90.

Calf roper Shane Hanchey from Sulphur, Louisiana, finished with a time of 6.8 seconds giving him first place.

In barrel racing, Jordan Briggs from Chilton took the first place time with a final time of 14.19 seconds.

Last but not least, Josh Frost totaling in 87.5 points out of Randlett, Utah, taking first place in bull riding.

Riders from all over the world competed in this year's Chute-Out including 23 year-old San Angelo native Ty Harris. Harris began his career in 2017, and is ranked No. 9 in the world.

“I was blessed to place in all 3 rounds and win third in the average at my hometown San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo,” Harris said in a Facebook post.

Unbelievable times were broken all through out the Cinch Chute-Out and turned out to be another very successful year for the San Angelo Rodeo.

The list goes on of many records that were broken and a full list of results can be found at sanangelorodeo.com.
