ABILENE, Texas — An Abilene man died after being hit by a pickup truck Monday morning in north Abilene.
Abilene Police were called to the 1900 block of Highway 277 at approximately 5:48 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20.
The pedestrian, Robert Lee Lucas, 34, was walking along Hwy 277 northbound lane and was struck in the roadway near the Ambler exit ramp.
Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mike McAuliffe.
The pickup truck driver was heading north on 277 when Lucas was struck. The driver was not injured.
Next of kin notification has been made, according to the Abilene Police Department.
The investigation is ongoing and the department said no citations have been issued.
