SAN ANGELO, Texas — With snow and ice covering most of the San Angelo area, first responders are out and about responding to calls centered around the road conditions left from the storm.

Some calls the San Angelo Fire and Police departments have been answering include slips and falls, car crashes and power outages.

However, SAPD Public Information Officer Richard Espinoza says there isn’t much they can do about power outages.

"Unfortunately there's not a whole lot we can do on our end as far as trying to restore that power. Contact AEP or any of your energy providers so that way they can try and address that accordingly," Espinoza said.

San Angelo Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Johnny Fisher said his department has responded to around four motor vehicle crashes and seven slip and fall injuries since Wednesday.

Even with icy, wet road conditions, the police are still helping San Angelo residents as much as they can.

“We're getting a lot of calls for service regarding accidents as well as motorist calls and we're receiving a lot for animals being out in the cold, animal cruelty calls. We're responding to calls as quickly as possible," Fisher said.

Most first responders recommend people to stay home and avoid driving on the roads as much as possible.
