TEXAS, USA — The National Weather Service in Abilene/San Angelo said that critical fire weather conditions are expected Sunday. A red flag warning is in effect starting at noon.
According to the NWS, winds will increase and humidity levels will drop as temperatures climb to around 80 degrees Sunday afternoon.
There are still active fires burning in West Central Texas. Conditions Sunday will make it more challenging for firefighters to slow the spread of the fires.
As a reminder, the NWS said, in order to prevent new wildfires from starting, please avoid any activities that generate sparks or open flames.
The weather service said it is monitoring weather conditions for Monday, but it appears critical conditions will be expected mainly across southwestern counties, while there may be a threat for severe weather in eastern counties.
