SAN ANGELO, Texas — Friday was another cool day in the 50s, similar to Thursday, but the clear skies helped temperatures heat up more, and it felt even warmer if you sat in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, lows Friday night will also be similar to Thursday, dropping into the 20s for just about everyone.

The weekend has a much better outlook as high pressure directly over Texas helps temperatures jump into 80s by the beginning of next week. These temperatures are way above average, and they won’t last for long, so soak it all in! If you need help finding something to do with all your time and sunshine, we've got a few suggestions.

Saturday will make the biggest jump in temperatures, starting out the weekend in the upper 60s. We’ll see more consistent sunshine, and winds will stay calm, only getting up to 10 MPH in the high afternoon. Although it’s the coolest day of the weekend, it’ll still be a great chance to get outside, maybe even hit the links. Nighttime lows will rise above freezing again but will only be in the mid-30s.

Sunday will be even warmer, reaching the 70s, but there will be some increased cloud cover and breezy winds ahead of a low-pressure system heading toward Texas. Sunday would be great for a hike or a walk, because the warmer temperatures can keep you comfortable, while the occasional cloud or tree block the hot direct sunlight. Don’t forget to take water!

Monday will be the climax of the warming trend where temperatures get up to the 80s! Averages for the 21st are in the 60s, but surprisingly, it’s not a record-breaking day, as records go up into the 90s. If you’re in school or a government employee, be sure to seize the day while the rest of us are stuck in the office.

Monday night, however, will see some rain chances moving toward Tuesday. The aforementioned low-pressure system enters Texas Monday afternoon and brings rain by the night. The current timeline shows rain entering from the southwest, hitting Crockett County first around 6 p.m. The showers will continue to move northeast, giving most a few sprinkles before leaving West Texas by 9 a.m. Tuesday.
