Tornado watch issued for West Central Texas until 10 p.m. Saturday

TEXAS, USA — The National Weather Service in Abilene/San Angelo has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. Saturday.

According the the NWS, thunderstorms are expected to develop across western portions of the forecast area in the late afternoon to early evening, and are expected to spread east across the rest of West Central Texas through late Saturday night.

Some of the storms may become severe, especially in the evening with large to possibly very large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes possible.

The threat for strongest wind gusts, potentially reaching 75 mph, will be across the western Big Country and northwest Concho Valley.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is also expected with these storms.
