TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — UPDATE (3:08 p.m. April 30): The City of San Angelo has provided a clarification on the increase of pending test numbers from Wednesday to Thursday.
The spike in pending cases Thursday's report comes from a large employer in Tom Green County deciding to test its entire workforce. These were done through a private lab but are being reported to the health department.
The City said it encourages large employers to test employees to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
ORIGINAL STORY: The City of San Angelo's Public Information Office reported one positive case of COVID-19 Thursday. The test was administered in Tom Green County, however, the patient does not reside in the county.
Thursday's reported case is a black male in his 60s who listed his county of residence as Coleman County. The City said it cannot confirm the transmission method because the state is conducting the investigation.
