SAN ANGELO, Texas — Another suspect in a theft ring has been arrested after Tom Green County Sheriff's Office deputies executed a dual search warrant Feb. 7.

The TGCSO said the arrest is part of the continuing effort to dismantle an organized crime ring.

The search warrant was executed at the same time both in the 1300 block of East 28th Street and the 4000 block of Herbert Road in San Angelo. Both properties were associated with San Angelo resident Tomas Tellez, 44.

During the execution of the search warrant, sheriff's office investigators recovered stolen equipment, trailers and firearms. Other stolen items seized included a backhoe, skid steer, six trailers, two utility vehicles, firearms and a suppressor.

After serving the search warrant, investigators gathered new information that led to the recovery of more stolen items, including a welder, a trailered compressor and another utility tractor.

Tellez was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 13, and charged with theft of property greater than or equal to $150,000 and less than $300,000, a second-degree felony.

In a release, the sheriff's office thanked the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, Homeland Security Investigations and US Border Patrol for their help in executing the search warrant.

The investigation remains open and the TGCSO is still actively trying to identify more stolen property. As of Wednesday, the sheriff's office has recovered, or was instrumental in recovering, a reported $380,000 worth of stolen property from Tom Green and surrounding counties.

As the investigation continues, more charges could be filed.
