SAN ANGELO, Texas — A man who was wanted by the San Angelo Police Department was found and arrested early Wednesday near Angelo State University.
Officers had information that Hector Lopez was possibly at a home near Vanderventer Avenue and South Van Buren Street. Multiple officers/agencies converged on the area and confirmed Lopez was inside the home.
The SAPD’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team tried to make contact with Lopez, but after multiple unsuccessful attempts, SWAT entered the home and arrested him.
Lopez was booked into the Tom Green County Jail for multiple felony warrants for aggravated kidnapping, stalking and a motion-to-revoke warrant for possession of child pornography.
In January, officers were called to the Zips Car Wash in the 4100 block of Sherwood Way for a domestic disturbance. When they arrived at the scene, a woman told them she had been assaulted by Lopez.
When officers approached, Lopez ran into the area of Amistad Road and Robin Hood Trail. Officers tried to quickly set up a perimeter in the neighborhood.
The SAPD's Drone Team and K9 Unit were called to help in the search, which was unsuccessful.
A wanted poster for Lopez was issued Jan. 31 by the SAPD.
The SAPD’s SWAT team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Drone team, K9 Division, Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Division helped in this week's incident, along with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Angelo State University Police.
