SAN ANGELO, Texas — An escapee from the Juvenile Justice Center who has been on the run since Jan. 8 is behind bars Monday.
At around 11:30 a.m. Monday, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office obtained two search and arrest warrants to be served in San Angelo for the arrest of T'Jon Walker, 17. Walker escaped from the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center after violently assaulting a guard and running away from the facility with two other inmates.
The two accomplices were caught the next day, but Walker remained at large and an investigation into his location remained active.
Acting on information gained through investigation, search warrants were obtained for homes in the 900 block of Shiloh Street and the 1900 block of Raney Street.
Around 1 p.m., the TGCSO's Special Response Team (SRT) executed the warrant in the 900 block of Shiloh, but Walker had left. As the SRT team and deputies closed in to serve the second search warrant on Raney Street, Walker was seen trying to run away and was arrested.
Walker was previously detained in the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center for deadly conduct - discharge of a firearm and theft of a firearm.
With this arrest, Walker was additionally charged with assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony, evading arrest and other charges. The sheriff's office says this is an active investigation and more charges may be forthcoming.
The Texas Department Of Public Safety (CID Division), the San Angelo Police Department, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the San Angelo Fire Department all helped with the investigation.
