SAN ANGELO, Texas — More vehicle burglaries have been reported in southwest San Angelo, according to the San Angelo Police Department

Thursday morning, the SAPD said on social media it has taken six (and counting) reports of vehicle burglaries in the southwest part of town.

It appears, the post said, the common trend is the suspect(s) are forcing entry into the vehicles by breaking the windows to steal the victim’s property.

Last week, multiple vehicle break-ins resulting damage and stolen property were reported to the SAPD in the same area over a two-day span.

Security camera footage and photos were shared on social media and the NextDoor app by victims warning friends and neighbors to watch vehicles and property. One woman who was burglarized shared a photo showing pry marks on the frame of the passenger side of her SUV and another photo where the window had been shattered before the thief took her property from inside the vehicle.

One social media post said there were at least nine vehicle break-ins in the two-day timeframe last week. Neighborhoods mentioned include Inglewood Drive, Sunset Drive, Southwest Boulevard, Driftwood, Huntington and Lakeridge.

On Feb. 2, SAPD Public Information Officer Kelsey Hernandez said, "Extra patrol is being provided for the area and emails have been sent out to officers for the possible suspect to try and identify him. We also have our specialized divisions working together on the vehicle burglary cases. We encourage all citizens to lock their vehicles and do not leave any valuable items inside."

The department is asking residents in the southwest part of the city to review their surveillance cameras for any footage of the suspect(s), report any suspicious activity to dispatch and do their part by following these tips - contact the non-emergency dispatch at 325-657-4315 if you have any information/video footage of the suspect(s.)
