UPDATE: Same person called in hoax threats to San Angelo, Abilene, Colorado City schools, SAPD says

The SAISD said the campus was placed on lockdown as soon as they learned about the threat. The lockdown has since been lifted.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (4:45 p.m. Sept. 30): The San Angelo Police Department said it received information the same caller for the Central High School incident also made the same threat to schools in Colorado City and Abilene.

UPDATE: San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Kelsey Hernandez said officers were dispatched to Central on a call for service for a potential shots fired. 

Police later learned there were no shots fired on campus and there was no one injured.

Administration and SAPD immediately began locking down the school to ensure students' safety and they were later released when no threat was made, Hernandez said.

Hernandez said there is no information available on a potential suspect or where the call originated. 

She said more information will be released later Friday.

ORIGINAL STORY: The San Angelo Police Department sent multiple officers to the San Angelo Central High School campus Friday after the San Angelo Independent School District was made aware of an alleged threat to the school.

The SAISD said district leaders and campus administrators immediately responded in conjunction with the SAPD and placed the campus on lockdown.

The lockdown has been lifted and students have resumed their normal early release schedule, the SAISD said.

The SAISD released the following statement Friday afternoon:

"We take all matters of this nature seriously and will follow procedures outlined in our Student Code of Conduct. The safety of our students is our first priority. We encourage everyone to report threats of any kind to a district or school official, local law enforcement, or report the concern on our district StayAlert link on the SAISD website.

Student reports will be kept confidential."

The SAPD said multiple officers are on scene and investigating.
